After completing the continental tournaments, the field for next year’s Men’s and Women’s Volleyball World Championships was formed on Tuesday.
There were no tournament qualifiers due to the coronavirus pandemic, but in addition to the managers, defending champions and the continental final, the top-ranked teams were placed in the 24-team field. None of the Hungarian teams had a chance to do this: the women ranked 44th with 102 points and the men 64th with 89 points. Kazakhstan ranked 23rd and China 22nd in the latter area.
There will be one rookie player for both genders: Qatar’s men’s team and Colombia’s women’s team can prepare for the World Cup for the first time. Among the previous winners, men will miss the Czech Republic and Cuba will miss the women. The Poles and Serbia won the 2018 World Cup.
The men’s tournament will be held from August 26 to September 11 in Russia, and the women’s championship from September 23 to October 15 in the Netherlands and Poland.
