Google made several announcements at its conference on Tuesday, affecting both the traditional search engine and an AI-based chatbot called Bard.

In terms of search engines based on artificial intelligence, you can mainly hear about Bing from Microsoft: the new search engine introduced at the beginning of February, although Google also announced its own solution called Bard, but it soon became available in All over the world, and recently it can also be used without a queue – not much can be said about Bard.

Yesterday, the Google I/O conference was, among many other things, also about revamping Search and the Bard. The revamped Bard is focused on visibility: for example, if someone searches for city attractions, in addition to a text-based chatbot response, visuals will also be rendered richer from now on.

From now on, images can also be uploaded to a chatbot, which can analyze it (for that, it turns to Google Lens for help) and, for example, in the case of a dog photo, it can recognize the breed, and then use the commands given to produce, for example , funny comment – all of this can certainly be used for more useful functions.

In addition, Adobe Firefly is also integrated into the Bard, so images can be created in the chatbot using text commands.

Artificial intelligence also comes to the traditional search engine, which was introduced by Liz Reed, Google’s Vice President of Search Engines: For a simple question, the search engine first throws the traditional and usual results, but this is complemented by a function called AI Snapshot, which is able to generate a summary based on artificial intelligence. In addition, the system is able to add links to the sources of the summary for each sentence, A. writes the edge.

In the presentation, they also touched on functionality that makes shopping easier—and for business purposes—because in another search, Reid had already researched a Bluetooth speaker. In addition to the usual results and good advice from AI Snapshot – what someone should pay attention to when buying one – shopping guide articles are also displayed in the upper right corner, and various featured products in online stores are displayed at the bottom. However, in order to access the latter, users have to enroll in the Generative Research Experiment (SGE), which is also part of the new Research Labs. Most importantly, the AI ​​Snapshot will not always appear, only if the AI ​​deems the summary to be more useful than traditional search results.

So Google clearly doesn’t want to be left behind in the AI ​​race either, but they also want to put traditional search in a new light, focusing less on chatbot functionality – but without forgetting about it either.
