In one month, nearly five thousand votes were received for our Main Place competitors: we were waiting to vote on our Szabolcs Online portal until the end of March, when our readers could choose the best restaurants in the county in the county seat, city and village category. The authors with the most votes won an ad package worth 1 million HUF in the Mediaworks portfolio. The winner in the city category was Kalumba Pub in Újfehértó.

Seasonal favorites

– We were very happy when we learned that we won the race. Many of our guests played the game and told us they voted for us every day, says Zsuzsanna Áncsánné Oláh, who owns Kalumba Pub with her husband, János. For us now, this pub is our life. We look forward to welcoming our guests every day and do our best to make this place a place of love. We strive to always be able to offer something new, even in the seasons. In the winter, for example, the ginger ale was a huge favourite. When we posted it on our Facebook page, a lot of our guests came in wanting to try it, and there were some who showed off the photo, “Here’s what we’re asking!”

Zsuzana also spoke about the fact that the pub was opened by her husband’s parents in 2018, but soon the tasks were handed over to the young couple. At the time, they saw that there weren’t many opportunities for young people in jfehértó to sit down for coffee even during the day, so they wanted to take advantage of them in the first place.

– Although most regular employees are still of the younger age group, we keep in mind that everyone from the youngest to the oldest can find something for us that they would like to return to. He added that our goal is to be able to give all of our guests something that becomes their favorite and to be a loved place in the heart of Újfehértó. – Our guests can taste a lot of coffee specialties with us, we also offer a wide range of soft drinks and spirits. We can throw in a good beer with a little nachos, which are very popular with cheese sauce or salsa.
