Strange: The Samsung Galaxy S25+ outperforms the Galaxy S25 Ultra in tests

It wasn't long after we tested the US and European versions of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, and now the Galaxy S25+ is showing what it can do. A prototype of the smartphone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset was tested using the Geekbench app and its results were better than those of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The Galaxy S25+ undercut the Galaxy S25 Ultra in single-core tests, despite the fact that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset's cores in the European version were clocked at 4.47GHz, while the Galaxy S25+'s power cores ran at 4.19. GHz. The Ultra variant also loses to the middle model of the series in multi-core measurements, if we compare the American variants.

The reason for the strangeness is likely that Samsung will install unique versions of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in the Galaxy S25 phones, as you know, they operate under the brand name “Snapdragon for Galaxy”. Rumor has it that the South Korean manufacturer and Qualcomm are still working on improving this particular chip, with multiple prototypes to improve the balance between performance and power consumption.

Projected design plan – will not change much

By the way, Qualcomm is accustomed to supplying Samsung's high-end Snapdragon chip with a higher clock speed, so the Galaxy S25 Ultra, whose power cores are 4.47 and the energy-efficient computing modules operate at a frequency of 3.53 GHz, may be capable of higher frequency(s) in Final version. What might give the Galaxy S25+ some slight advantages is that it has a slightly smaller screen with fewer pixels, which means less work for the graphics processor, which might give it some advantages over the Galaxy S25 Ultra in benchmark tests.
