Samsung has already promised a long 5-year software support for its latest mobile phones, not just for the top models, but also for the mid-range and even entry-level phones. However, they can go further with the Galaxy S24 series!
Google announced last year that its new models would receive updates for 7 years from the release date, thus making a bid for Samsung's 5-year support. However, it seems that the South Korean manufacturer is not giving up, as it is preparing something similar.
the Android addresses According to its latest report, the Galaxy S24 models will also get 7 years of support, which means it will easily bring the iPhones up to the updates level. Apple doesn't promise anything concrete for its devices, but software support is usually 5-7 years (5 major iOS version updates are the most common, at least recently discontinued models have received that much).
Samsung Galaxy S24 series
At Google, the seven-year period applies not only to security fixes but also to major Android version updates. We don't know yet exactly what the situation will be with Samsung, but there's a good chance it will keep the search giant level, meaning the Galaxy S24 series that will be released with Android 14 will theoretically still get Android 21.
One of the biggest questions is whether the 7-year support will be extended to existing models. In previous years, when Samsung offered updates lasting 4 or 5 years, it increased support for some of its mobile phones a year or two ago, but we don't know if that's the case now.
