Prairie View Celebrates The Legacy Of The Students That Started It All
On Tuesday February 27, 2018, at 6 p.m. in the Willie A. Tempton Sr. Memorial Student Center Ballroom, Prairie View A&M University will host its inaugural Unknown Eight Gala. It will be a black tie event honoring the legacy of the program students who were the first to enroll at the then, Alta Vista Agriculture & Mechanicial College.
Although Prairie View was established in 1876 The Unknow Eight, who were all men, did not enroll and begin there studies until March 11, 1878. Now 142 years later Prairie View is continuing to grow and improve with an grand enrollment total of 9,152 students as of Fall 2017.
The history of Praire View is rich and intriguing, and with this Inagural Gala, Prairie View continues to create history and a legacy that lives on.
