TECH NEWS – Sony has launched a “Perfect for PlayStation®5” campaign on BRAVIA XR TVs that are specifically designed to work perfectly with the PlayStation 5 (PS5™) game console system to deliver a decent gaming experience with visuals and sound.
“Perfect for PlayStation 5” TVs feature two new features entirely exclusive to PS5: Auto HDR Tone mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode. Compatible games support a frame rate of up to 120 fps in 4K Ultra HD as defined by the HDMI 2.1 standard. In addition, Z9J models deliver exceptional smoothness and responsiveness at just 6.0ms Input Lag for combat, sports, fast-paced performance and fast-paced action games.
Sony BRAVIA XR TVs deliver stunningly lifelike images with vibrant colors and striking contrast. All this is complemented by the screen’s unique audio technology, which puts the user in the middle of the action, whether during gameplay or a movie.
Perfect for PlayStation®5 BRAVIA XR exclusive features
Auto HDR tone set
HDR Tone Mapping* instantly optimizes HDR settings during PS5 setup. The console automatically detects each BRAVIA TV model and chooses the most suitable HDR setting for your TV accordingly. With enhanced HDR-Tone Mapping that meets BRAVIA monitor specifications, important details and colors are visible even in high-contrast scenes. In Gran Turismo ™ 7, the elements on the field look more detailed, making it easier for the player to interact with what is happening in the game.
Auto-type picture mode
BRAVIA XR TVs can detect if the user is playing a game or watching a movie/series. With Auto Genre Picture Mode, the device automatically switches to game mode when playing, reducing input lag, allowing you to respond quickly to screen action. When consuming movies via a PS5 console, streaming providers, or Ultra HD Blu-ray™, Standard mode shifts the focus to image processing for a more expressive picture display.
Auto Genre Picture Mode will be available through a future software update on PS5 and BRAVIA TVs in late 2021.
New audio technologies
Sony’s BRAVIA XR TVs are a perfect match for many Sony audio products, including the HT-A9 home theater system or the HT-A7000 and HT-A5000* soundbars. With products that connect directly to the PS5 console, you can also try automatic HDR tone mapping and automatic genre portrait mode on BRAVIA XRs.
