Peace rally in Losonchi – Poltar’s English teacher beat the paramedic with the Ukrainian flag

A pro-Kremlin organization has been holding peace marches across the country, and at last Friday’s event in Lusunsk, participants attacked a medical student who joined peace demonstrators with a Ukrainian flag on his shoulder. DenníkN writes that the boy was attacked with a fist by an English teacher at a secondary school in Poltar.

According to the boy, there are many people pretending to march for peace while demonstrating for Russia. He also said that Peter Biro, a secondary school English teacher in Poltar (the county seat), tried to punch him in the face because he didn’t like the fact that he had joined the rally with a Ukrainian flag on his shoulder. According to the boy, the teacher’s punch didn’t hit him completely, so he didn’t cause much damage. He also said that not all participants were aggressive, and he talked to some of them for about a quarter of an hour after the demonstration.

DennikN also contacted Poltár’s headmaster to find out his opinion on his subordinate’s behaviour. Dušan Zedicovan, head of Poltari Unified Secondary School (Spojená stredná škola v Poltári), said he knew about the incident, but did not want to comment on it, stating that he was apolitical and did not care what his classmates were doing in their spare time – as long as there was no crime involved. When asked if he thought such behavior was appropriate for a teacher dealing with young people, the principal did not answer and hung up.

According to DenníkN, the peace marches are being organized by the Archa Association (Spolok Archa), which was co-founded by Tibor Eliot Rostas, editor-in-chief of the pro-Kremlin magazine Zem a Vek.

Géč wants to go to other peace rallies, too. On Friday, February 17, 2023, that is, today, a similar event will take place in Poltar starting at 5:00 pm – he wants to participate in this, as well as in the peace march planned for next Tuesday (February 21) in Remaszombat.
