Exceptionally warm and colder than average scattered areas are found in Antarctica, as well as in parts of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Meanwhile, lower-than-average temperatures have been recorded in Australia (especially in the west), the southeastern United States, parts of Mexico, South America, North Africa, parts of Asia, far eastern Russia, and parts of western Antarctica.

Air temperatures mixed near the surface over the major ocean basins. Most of the Atlantic, Arctic Ocean, Northwest Pacific, and South Pacific, from northern Australia to southern South America, experienced above-average temperatures.

Sea air temperatures were below average in the subtropical eastern and southern tropics of the Pacific Ocean, indicating the persistence of La Niña, according to Copernicus, and in the area off the coast of West Antarctica. Temperature conditions varied in the Indian Ocean region.

Hungary: A warm dry October

In the Hármas-Körös region, this October was the driest of the 20th century. Since the beginning of the 20th century: here, at several stations, the total precipitation did not even reach 1 mm.
