According to MTI news, Norway topped the medal table at the Beijing Winter Olympics, and the Scandinavian country took home a record 16 gold medals. Representatives from a total of 29 countries won medals in the Chinese capital.

Hungarian speed skater Liu Shawang won gold in the 500 meters and bronze in the 1000 meters, as well as third place in the mixed relay with 20th place.
