More than 100 farms have registered for Naturland's 'Für mehr Artenvielfalt' (for biodiversity) financing programme, which Aldi supports as an exclusive partner.

Within the framework of the programme, Naturland wants to provide support to farmers who take further steps for biodiversity – Announce Company.

Aldi and Naturland jointly launch the “Für mehr Artenvielfalt” program in 2023.

This program helps organic farmers create new habitats for different species such as insects and birds.

an experience

Ten companies participated in the pilot phase of the initiative, during which measures to enhance biodiversity were introduced in an area equivalent to 185 football fields.

In the coming months, Aldi and Naturland plan to expand this area and expand the program.

Aldi funds the support program by paying a portion of Naturland's revenue for every Naturland certified product sold in its stores.

Participating farmers receive financial support to scale up their measures to increase biodiversity, and this commitment is identified by the “Für mehr Artenvielfalt” label on the products. This gives customers the opportunity to directly support environmentally friendly measures by purchasing Naturland certified products.

“vital strategy”

More than 20% of Aldi's standard organic range is already certified under Naturland guidelines.

Measures taken under the program include planting clover, planting winter-hardy intermediate plants that feed wildlife, and creating new hedges. These help provide habitats, shelter and food sources for insects, soil-dwelling organisms and various birds and mammals.

The program also uses measures to enhance soil fertility and water retention and contribute to climate protection, for example by planting hedges that bind carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
