Oracle CEO Larry Ellison ignored the stop sign.

Billionaire head of computer technology company Oracle Larry Ellison has been fined by police for speeding on a Hawaiian island of which he owns 98 percent, he wrote: Business interested. As recently as this past October, Ellison was speeding the speed limit in an orange Corvette and even ran a stop sign before he could be flagged down. The billionaire later said that he was in a hurry to have dinner with his children, but this does not excuse his actions.

The billionaire is almost the only owner of the island of Lanai in the Hawaiian archipelago, 98 percent of which he owns. Ellison bought the island for $300 million (about HUF 111 billion) and his plan is to develop the world’s first sustainable tourism paradise with a green economy on it.
