The report said that through the Public Protection Fund, which was increased almost fourfold in the 2023 budget, the government continues to ensure Europe’s largest public support for Hungarian families, businesses and municipalities.

By the end of April, the central fiscal subsystem closed with a deficit of HUF 2,709.7 billion. Within that, the central budget showed a deficit of HUF 2,671.6 billion, the separate state funds showed a surplus of HUF 39.3 billion, and the social security financial funds showed a deficit of HUF 77.4 billion.

In the first four months of the year, spending on housing subsidies amounted to HUF 283.3 billion, which is HUF 106.4 billion higher than the same period of the previous year. The main reason for the difference is the increased payments under the Home Improvement Grant, which is paid by the Hungarian Ministry of Finance with ongoing processing.

The composition of state property expenditures has also expanded, as in 2023, in addition to high-rise construction investment, transportation infrastructure development will also develop greatly. Within individual and standard expenditures, HUF 848.5 billion has been spent as of the end of April in respect of general protection expenditures to compensate providers of central heating and universal service of electricity and natural gas in residential areas.

The department explained that the central sub-system revenue of HUF 11,375.4 billion at the end of April was HUF 1,550.8 billion, up 15.8 percent over the same period of the previous year.

The Ministry of Finance announced that the central subsystem expenditure of HUF 14,085.1 billion at the end of April exceeded the figure for the same period of the previous year by HUF 1,625.0 billion, or 13.0 percent.
