Index - The Science - Is there life outside Earth now?

According to mathematical logic, there must be a lot of advanced civilizations in the universe, but experience does not prove this, because even with the most advanced astronomical instruments currently available, we have not been able to determine the signs of the presence of extraterrestrials. But if the law of large numbers (and we’re really talking about very large numbers here) there must be more than one advanced civilization, there’s still only one question.

Where are you dear aliens?

The idea described above is called the Fermi paradox. Attempts are still underway to solve this by searching for direct or indirect evidence of the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations, or by the theory that extraterrestrial life can exist without human knowledge, so it is not necessary to prove it. In contrast, counter-views assume that there is no intelligent life outside Earth, or that it is too rare for people to ever come into contact with these life forms.

The imagination of extraterrestrials has always driven the imaginations of filmmakers. While we might think this topic has been chewed up, as Pentagon conspiracy theories and theories to overthrow Area 51 have been a part of our lives for decades, there is a lot of work on the topic to this day. There’s even a recent galactic movie called Space Picnic, where an extraterrestrial boy arrives on Earth to save Sarulta Zlatnai from the apocalypse, as Sene’s numbers reach her planet.

It’s easy to let our imaginations run wild on this, which is why the next episode of the Brain Bar and Index podcast will be refreshingly realistic. Have we arrived? In Part Six – which will be shown on the Index surface on Monday – Elde Nagy and Marcy Barani talk to astronomer Laszlo Kiss about the possibility of extraterrestrial life.

If you still listen to something that stands out a bit in outer space, visit Mars, or if you want to travel further, spin the wheel of time with us forward or backward. In previous episodes, we also looked at whether we want this internet, and beyond, we discussed the question of whether AI is dangerous. In the final section, we asked about the technological promise, that is, where flying cars actually are.
