They are already testing access to specific content on Reddit, and CEO Steve Hoffman spoke about it in a video “Ask anything” on the platform. The video revealed that it can reach the “Subreddit” feature Gizmodo.
Hoffman's plans have been mentioned for some time that a specific content of the interface should be paid, and this is not surprising that the company's quarterly result was badly successful. The CEO of the video said that the “new key function” will be presented in 2025. Last year, Hoffman talked about working to create a “paid wall” that will be available behind “exclusive and private areas”, but this will only apply to the dress -up that was created newly.
Reddit has been struggling with profit production since its foundation in 2005, and for this reason the Reddit Gold subscription was presented in 2010, which would allow R/Lounge ALEDDit to reach any ads for subscribers. However, the gold subscription does not result in a great deal of profits, and therefore the company has provided the “shareholder” program, where users pay money to the famous content. To increase profits, Reddit entered the stock exchange last year.
Reddit's annual revenue was missed in 2024 a billion dollars soon. By comparison, Meta received $ 135 billion of revenues during the same period.
