Index – Technology Science – Mark Zuckerberg entered Apple's closed system in a live broadcast while cursing

Facebook founder and Meta leader Mark Zuckerberg publicly expressed his opinion about Apple's closed system during a live chat with NVIDIA CEO Huang Zhenhshun on Monday at the SIGGRAPH 2024 event, it was reported. Engadget.

Tuesday’s panel discussion on artificial intelligence and future computing platforms got off to a quiet start, with the two billionaire leaders congratulating each other on the results of their AI efforts, and the Meta chief making sure to talk about the company’s recently announced AI studio before launching into his usual talking points, which have recently included sharp criticism of Apple.

Then Mark Zuckerberg spoke at length about his frustration with “closed” ecosystems like Apple’s App Store. None of this is particularly new, as the Meta founder has been at odds with the company for years, but he broke with the calm, commanding presence that usually characterizes the American programmer’s public appearances, and expressed his frustration with expletives.

I mean, this is a little selfish, but after building this company for a while, one of my jobs over the next 10 to 15 years is to make sure that we can build the core technology that we build social experiences on, because there was something that I tried to build a lot and then the platform provider said, “No, you can’t build this,” so on some level I said, “You’re missing out.”

“I’m sorry,” Mark Zuckerberg said, then added that he was “angry when we talk about closed platforms.”

New AI feature may be coming to Meta platforms

As we wrote, the Facebook founder announced in June that his company, called Meta AI Studio, is testing a new feature on its photo-sharing social platform, Instagram. The new service will allow operators of popular Insta pages to create bots to perform PR tasks. Zuckerberg stressed that artificial intelligence appears in the conversations of some sites, and here he will also indicate that the bot is communicating.

The billionaire businessman also previously detailed his company’s AI strategy, the essence of which is that on their platforms, different companies and celebrities can create models that adapt to their image and personality, helping them communicate with their audience and customers. He mentioned that these bots do not necessarily have to be just a copy of the account owner, that is, they can have their own personality. One of the goals of the AI Studio test is to see if users are interested in chatting with celebrity bots. Meta announced the arrival of AI Studio last fall. 50 creators will participate in the test first, and if all goes well, the function will be available to everyone in August.
