Index-Tech - CEO apologizes for Cyberpunk 2077

Marcin Iwiński, founder of CD Project Red, apologized in a video for Cyberpunk 2077’s poor console performance and surprising bugs, and also outlined the game’s future.

Wednesday night at the Polish CD project Post a videoThe company’s founder, Marcin Iwiński, apologized for the errors in Cyberpunk 2077 and the poor performance of the console. He also finally revealed how the console version of the game was released in such poor condition, and also talked about the company’s plans for the game in 2021.

No matter what you think about the game or the CD project, Iwiński’s behavior is sure to be a perfect model for politicians or other corporate executives, taking full responsibility for what happened. He confirmed that he and the management decided to launch the game in this case. This is why it is requested by the gaming audience

Don’t beat the dust on the development team.

“From our point of view”

Regarding the console version, he also revealed that the CP2077 was primarily developed for personal computers and was designed to look ‘cool’ on it. After that, it was possible to make the console port. They were also aware that there was a huge difference between the two types of platforms in terms of hardware performance, but at first they thought they could still fix this problem.

However, they later realized that console data management was very slow, so they had to keep working on the “in-game broadcast system”, which provides the game with downloadable content. Iwiński also added that although the game was constantly tested after various developments, “This test did not reveal many issues that players encountered later on”.

As the release approached, they saw a gradual improvement and believed that the latest “Day One Correction” would solve the problems. Console icons were then released to the press late, on December 8 (two days before they were released) (we also received the PS4 version from the Hungarian distributor at the time), because software fixes were slower than expected.

“This year is with you in the same place”

As for their plans for 2021, although the free DLC packages are designed to be released shortly after release, they now have to wait for the fixes to be made. And when do we expect the latter? A major correction will arrive in ten days, followed by a more significant correction in the following weeks. As for the upgrade package, which was originally planned for the first half of 2021, and that has been carried over to the next generation consoles, it is now

“Sometime until the second half of 2021”

Must-wait for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S owners.
