China’s electric car maker Nio has suspended production of electric cars over the weekend, citing a late arrival, as additional shutdowns to prevent the spread of the coronavirus ruptured supply chains – Marketwatch Books.

Nio wrote in a Saturday announcement on their mobile app.

Due to the epidemic, the company’s supplier partners have suspended production at a number of locations since March, including Julin, Shanghai and Jiangsu, and production has not resumed since then. Because of this, Nio had to stop making cars

The company added.

The main reason for this situation is to prevent the spread of the coronavirus China Strict closures were also imposed in Shanghai and other cities. Because of the shutdown, both Tesla and Volkswagen have suspended production at their Chinese plants.

Production was able to increase further in the previous quarter, with Nio reporting 25,768 vehicles shipped for the previous quarter in its quarterly report in early April, the highest quarterly value ever.
