Index - Economy - A list of the richest Americans has been published, and Donald Trump is no longer in it

For the first time in twenty-five years, Donald Trump was not included in the list of the 400 richest Americans compiled by Forbes this year. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the rich are generally getting richer, but Donald Trump is an exception. His fortune is now “only” estimated at $2.5 billion. It has lost nearly $600 billion since the start of the pandemic,

It was thus dropped from the list, although it was still 339th last year.

Incidentally, Donald Trump was still 121st in 2015, before he was elected president, and has remained on the list ever since. The other billionaires have fared much better than that, with the total wealth of the top listed people increasing by forty percent compared to last year, bringing their total wealth to $4.5 trillion. It ranked 400 in assets worth $2.9 billion this year, up from $2.1 billion last year. Even the richest Hungarian, Lőrinc Mészáros, would not jump to that level with a fortune estimated at one and a half billion dollars – written by Hungarian edition of Forbes magazine.

Bill Gates slipped back to fourth on the list as part of his estate went to his ex-wife after his divorce. Thus his previous counterpart was placed in the top 400 in 158th place.

Jeff Bezos endures divorce better financially. Although his former partner, Mackenzie Scott, currently has $58 billion in interests, Bezos still tops the list with $201 billion in assets.

Then comes Elon Musk with $11 billion in backlog, who can’t be sad because his fortune is up $68 billion from a year ago due to rising tech stocks. In third place was Mark Zuckerberg with $134 billion.

It is worth noting that people under the age of 40 on the list are mainly included in cryptocurrencies and meme stocks. The youngest billionaire, Sam Bankman-Fried, 29, also owes his $22.5 billion fortune to cryptocurrency trader FTX.
