The Audi-Restaurant of the Year Awards were held on the evening of Monday, May 16, 2022,

This year, Restaurant of the Year has become a Rumor (rumor, rumor in Hungarian) by Jenő Rácz.

  • Best of The Best has received the Stand Restaurant award.
  • Black Swan Budapest won its first Cocktail Bar of the year, and the Őriszentpéter Barn won the Sustainability Award.
  • Mihályi Sweets was awarded the Pastry Shop Best Of The Best award,
  • Attila Minehart was awarded Best Pastry Maker of the Year,
  • And the dessert of the year became Raspberry The Pastry Shop.

The Hungarian Bocuse d’Or team took home a Special Award for Chef of the Year Performance, Young Chef of the Year became Young Chef for Routine, Dávid Pallag, and the Dining Guide-Audi Lifetime Achievement Award went to Katalin Pintér.

Chef of the Year is Austrian-born chef Wolfgang Puck, who opened his first European restaurant in Budapest last year. Restaurant Service of the Year went to Déryné, and Wine of the Year winner went to Felix Kitchen & Bar.

New fee categories

Before the Restaurant of the Year winner was announced, the winners of the latest categories were presented at the ceremony, including the Best Restaurant award in the new Restaurant Guide.

The big novelty of the Audi-Dining Guide TOP100 Restaurant Guide, launched this year, is the creation of a new category with Best Of The Best certification, modeled on international practices. The Best of the Best award is given for exemplary quality of units that have achieved a best-in-class rating in restaurant guides in previous years for at least three years. A restaurant may maintain its Best Dining Guide rating of all time as long as the unit’s professional management and unit location remain unchanged and its performance in the tests is above 90 points. The best restaurant is ranked in the top 10 of its category.

The first winner in the new category was Stand Restaurant, which has won Restaurant of the Year award for the past three years. The restaurant has also received international attention for its achievements in the Bocuse d’Or competitions.

In addition to the new award category, we will also find a new TOP10 menu in this year’s Restaurant Guide: this year, the publication will assess the evolution of Hungarian pub life in recent years in a separate chapter with the TOP10 menu and Cocktail Bar of the Year award. Black Swan Budapest won its first Dining Guide Cocktail Award of the year.

The dining guide also announced the best of the best among the pastries. And the Best Of The Best award from the pastry shop went to Mihályi Patisserie, who has been the Best Pastry of the Year for four years since 2018 from the Dining Guide. Attila Meinehart, Head of Confectioner at Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace, was named Confectioner of the Year. Best dessert of the year 2022, Raspberry becomes the pastry shop: Gerbeaud’s former pastry maker, Zoltán Kolonics and his wife, Ágnes, are a very serious French-style dessert. Raisin berries are among the best.
