Index - Abroad - Boris Johnson: Starting March 8, we will gradually easeخفف

Boris Johnson said on Monday that relaxation to curb the coronavirus epidemic in England could begin on March 8. The British Prime Minister will inform the House of Representatives in London on Monday afternoon of the timetable for lifting restrictions, and will hold a press conference in the evening. As a first step in opening, students can return to schools.

In a preliminary statement issued by Downing Street at dawn Monday, Boris Johnson said that the plan he outlined during the day,

mitigation.

He stressed that the London government has always considered the most important mitigation measure to allow children to return to school, as this is very important not only for their education but also for their mental and physical safety. The British government also makes it one of the most important tasks people should be able to finally meet their loved ones in safe conditions.

However, Boris Johnson also stressed that each step in lifting restrictions will be determined on the basis of the latest available data, and the government will be careful not to undermine the progress made so far in curbing the epidemic by sacrificing the population.

The Prime Minister announced that the UK government had set out a four-point set of criteria and all four conditions must be met before any further steps could be taken to ease restrictions.

The four criteria for opening a short circuit is that

  • The vaccination program continues successfully,
  • Evidence shows that coronavirus vaccines reduce the number of hospitalizations and coronavirus deaths between vaccines.
  • The current infection rates do not threaten to increase the number of patients requiring hospitalization to the extent that it leads to unsustainable pressure on the NHS,
  • Or if there is no new virus variant that radically changes the risk assessment.

Downing Street said on Monday that all four of these criteria are currently met, so

On March 8, the government will take the first step to ease restrictions.

According to the London prime minister’s office, the selection was made because the British government’s Joint Commission on Vaccination (JCVI) said that by then the degree of protection had already been reached in the four most vulnerable populations in the body’s vaccination schedule.

At the top of the JCI priority immunization list for children residing and caregivers in nursing homes over 80 years of age and those working on the front lines of healthcare and care services, followed in chronological order by 75, 70, 65, 60, 55, and finally followed by Persons over the age of fifty.

15 million people have already been vaccinated

The first official goal was to make at least the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine available to all members of the first four at-risk groups on the JCVI priority list by February 15, last Monday.

That goal was achieved one day before the deadline, and JCVI experts say that in this group, protection will be developed three weeks after the first dose of the vaccine, at the latest by March for first mitigation measures.

Boris Johnson previously stressed that a cautious opening is only possible because the government is determined to make the process leading to lifting restrictions irreversible and to make the current national lockdown since early January, the third shutdown since the pandemic began. And the last of these measures is restrictive constraints.

The only solution is a vaccine.

Cecilia Muller added to the staff press conference last Wednesday that Hungary follows the principle of consistent defense and still does not consider mitigation a good defense tactic.

It is not right to loosen, then tighten, and then loosen again. The epidemic will not leave its control, so it is not time for that yet
