ILCA 6 VB 2024 – 16th in a turbulent first race

Amid the turbulent weather, only one race was held at the ILCA 6 Olympic Qualifying World Championship in the waters of Mar del Plata, Argentina. The field of 102 boats started the qualifying races in two and fifty-one groups. The start was immediately delayed due to several ricocheting shots in the 8-12 knot north-easterly wind. The passing thunderstorms which can also be seen in the photos must have caused significant wind changes, strengthening and omissions during the race as well, and then, due to the arrival of a severe storm, the organizers took the field to the beach after the finishing line. By the time the weather cleared, it was too late for another race.

Mary Erde finished 16th in her group, so she is currently 31-32 years old. He ranks eighth at the World Championships in the medal race. Last August, when he became world champion in The Hague, he had two worse results in the series, but he still won…

Those who were lucky with the Lutris winds also enjoyed the rain. So this photo does not depict Mary – Photography: Mario Capazzino
