A Polish non-governmental organization that monitors manifestations of racism and xenophobia announced on Sunday that it had filed a lawsuit over the previous statement of Polish President Andrzej Duda, in which he made insulting comments about the film “Green Borders” and its viewers in 2023, writes Reuters.
Duda previously said that he is not surprised, according to the slogan of the film's critics about the refugee crisis on the Belarusian-Polish border, that only pigs enter the green border. Duda's Law and Justice party criticized the film because, in their words, it portrays the work of Polish border guards in an offensive manner and is disrespectful to those who defend Poland. For example, former Polish Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro He compared it to Nazi propaganda Green border.
Green Border is the work of internationally recognized Polish director Agnieszka Holland. The film won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for the European Film Award.
Duda's secretariat also confirmed to Reuters that the Polish president has been summoned to court in the case by October 2025.
