In all respects, and indeed in almost every round, the paper model was upended at the Men’s Fencing World Cup in Istanbul, and to see how true this is, it suffices to record the arrival of the Netherlands and Kazakhstan to the finals: the Dutch were 24th before the competition, while the Kazakhs were 26th in the world.
We took third place, and the French and Italians were also ahead of them at the World Cup competition in Istanbul – the Italians did not even make it to the top eight …
The quartet of Tibor Andrassy, Mate Koch, David Nagy, and Gergely Seklosi jumped this hurdle without any problems, but then failed to reach the quarter-finals against the Spaniards, losing to the Hungarian team by two points.
After that, he won aces again, and our team ended up in fifth place.
