Many people took to the streets on Monday evening to protest against the expansion of the Gyor Industrial Estate. The protesters fear a battery factory will be built there, too, and are tired of the secrecy surrounding the development.

350-400 people protested against the planned battery factory in Győr on Monday evening telex. According to the newspaper, although no one said that expanding the 400-hectare industrial park would mean building a huge battery factory, those who took to the streets are tired of the secrecy surrounding this and want to make sure that even the theoretical possibility of something like this does not exist to build a factory.

Local civilians also joined the demonstration organized by the Liberal Party, and according to the newspaper, hundreds of people showed up at the demonstration thanks to them.

Last year, locals learned that a dangerous factory could be set up in the industrial park that was being developed near their homes as a priority government investment. The officials did not answer their questions about it, and since then it is not known whether there will be a battery factory on the confiscated fields in the immediate vicinity of Győrszentiván.

Several demonstrations were organized in this regard, and a referendum initiative was launched – but to no avail so far.
