90 percent of the natural gas expected to be needed by the end of March is already available, and the rest is provided by Russian and Hungarian production.

The Hungarian Energy and Utilities Regulatory Authority said Hungary has a sufficient amount of natural gas reserves, and imports and domestic extraction are continuing without interruption.

The average annual consumption demand of the Hungarian population is 3.5-4 billion cubic meters, depending on the temperature. In mid-February, Hungarian storage facilities, including security stocks, still contained 1.76 billion cubic meters of natural gas, or 27.77 percent.

About 90 percent of the total usage projected by the end of March is still in storage. In addition, “usually under an agreement with the Russian side”, imports and domestic production were constantly and uninterruptedly available.
