A Chinese zoo has publicly admitted that its pandas are actually black-and-white Chow Chow dogs, the Daily Mail reported. CNNA zoo in southern Guangdong province has two panda-like animals behind bars, and after a video of them was uploaded to the Chinese version of TikTok, Doujin, on Monday, the comments section went wild.

The video has been shared 1.4 million times and liked 725,000 times, and by the way, you can see a sign next to the platform that says “drawn dogs”. They also wrote that they are called panda dogs, and they look like pandas and are drawn, but they are very cute, smart and friendly.

Zoo director Huang said one of the main attractions of their establishment is the painted dogs. He added, regretfully, that their name is “Paradise of Exotic Animals and Cute Pets,” and the two rubber ducks are part of this special collection.

CNN reminds us that this is not the first time people have dressed up as pandas in China. In May, a zoo in Jiangsu province caused a scandal, but for a long time maintained that the black-and-white, dog-like creatures were pandas. As the scandal grew, they finally admitted to the fraud. In 2019, a cafe in Chengdu caused a scandal when it offered dog owners painted their pets as pandas. In 2016, a pet store in Guangdong sold dogs painted as tigers.
