Steam Deck users spend a lot of time in Night City.
Valve just released its list of Steam Deck games for September based on total hours played, and it looks like the Cyberpunk 2077 moment is extending to handheld devices. CD Projekt Red’s 2020 open-world sci-fi RPG finds itself at number four on the list along with some iterations from last month like Vampire Survivors, Elden Ring, and Stardew Valley.
It’s no surprise that Cyberpunk ranks so high, considering we recently reported that it was attracting over a million players per day just last week. This started looking like a second step after CD Projekt Red’s 1.6 “Edgerunners” update added the much-anticipated transmission system. I can confirm that I spent at least 2 of those Steam Deck hours meticulously organizing Vk’s outfit.
Regardless of the update, it appears that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime on Netflix has brought some Cyberpunk 2077 owners back to Night City. Unofficial animation editor Wes Finlon said the movie was fun. CDPR has also added some in-game items based on the animation, such as David’s coat.
We joked last month when we saw the top list of Steam Deck games in August that everyone was using like a better Nintendo Switch. It’s a feeling I could fall behind, as the Steam Deck plays some Nintendo Switch games better than the Switch itself.
CD Projekt Red announced this week that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 20 million copies, an impressive feat. Cyberpunk 2077 will also get a expansion called Phantom Liberty next year, which will see the return of V and his phantom friend on PC Johnny Silverhand, and Keanu Reeves reprising his role.
