Could residency be the secret to longevity?

According to recent research, being close to the sea is a good thing regardless of your financial situation.

People are healthier if they live near the sea or spend at least some time by the sea, reports MTI based on an international survey conducted by environmental psychologists in Vienna. The beneficial health effects of the sea have been shown to be independent of country and income.

Researchers interviewed more than 15,000 people from Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Great Britain, the Czech Republic and Australia. Regarding the research, a worker at the University of Vienna said, Sandra Geiger He pointed out that frequent visits to the beach have a positive relationship with better health, regardless of income.

At the same time, they added that the sea is only one of the factors affecting health, not a magic cure, and cannot reduce health disparities between high- and low-income groups.

For policymakers, the findings suggest that providing public access to beaches can have clear health benefits.

According to the researchers, residents of landlocked countries can also benefit from this beneficial effect while on a beach vacation. In addition, they suspect that time spent near lakes has a similar beneficial effect on health, which was confirmed by a follow-up study in Austria.
