Catalog – Tech-Science – A potentially dangerous asteroid approaching Earth, was recently spotted

Asteroid 2022 JE1 is estimated to be between 50 meters and 155 meters in diameter. According to the US space agency (NASA), the celestial body will approach the Earth on Sunday, July 3: after that it will pass 3.29 million kilometers from us, almost nine times the distance between the Earth and the Moon.

NASA has classified the asteroid as “potentially dangerous”.

However, it should be noted that this happens for any celestial body that approaches Earth more than 4.65 million miles (7.5 million km) and has a diameter greater than 100 meters.

In other words, according to the space agency, JE1 is unlikely to cause problems. However, it is remarkable that this asteroid was discovered by space researchers relatively late. While most similar objects heading toward Earth are detected months or years ago, JE1 was only spotted on May 7.

Another asteroid that will be a real gold mine, NASA mission will be launched soon

The Daily Star reports on JE1 in his article It was also noted that another asteroid, 16 Psyche, is located very far from Earth and contains very large amounts of precious metals, including gold.

According to estimates, the value of this asteroid could be much greater than the overall economy of the Earth:

The asteroid is about 140 miles (about 226 kilometers) in diameter and is believed to have been the core of a protoplanet.

This asteroid is not approaching us, but we may soon be on our way to it. According to the plans, NASA will launch a mission in August 2022, the purpose of which will be to map the asteroid from nearby places. The US spacecraft is expected to land on the surface of 16 Psyche in early 2026.
