He introduced himself to Salter.

Subaru created the name for its new model by fusing the Latin words “sol” (sun) and “terra” (earth), which are otherwise a co-production with Toyota. The two companies are increasingly intertwined anyway, and Subaru’s first electric model is essentially a Toyota-based model. It is no coincidence that it was recently presented in its final form Known as Toyota bZ4X It shows a very close relationship with the model.

The Solterra will be part of Subaru’s SUV lineup, adding a new line-up of 4,690 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, 1,650 mm in height and 2,850 mm wheelbase to the XV, Forester, Outback and Ascent.

Like the Toyota bZ4X, the Solterra will be available in two versions. The front-wheel drive Solterra weighs 1930 kg and has an electric motor with 204 hp and a torque of 265 Nm. Although Subaru has not disclosed the driving dynamics, the bZ4X accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds and has a top speed of 160 km/h.

In the all-wheel drive version, the Solterra weighs up to 2,020 kg, and the two electric motors generate 80 kW. Their combined power is 217 hp and 336 Nm of total torque, but their top speed is about the same as that of the weaker model. Its acceleration is of course better at 0-100 km / h in 7.7 seconds.

The all-wheel drive version of Subaru’s all-electric SUV also features XMODE, which controls torque on all four axles to suit the conditions.

Energy, regardless of version, is stored in a 71.4 kWh lithium-ion battery with a range of about 530 km on the WLTC cycle for the FWD version and 460 km for all-wheel drive.

For the AC charging of the battery, the built-in charger is only 6.6 kW, but will be offered at 11 kW as of Q4 2022. Using a high-speed DC charger (150 kW), the battery can be recharged to 80% in about 30 minutes . The company says the Solterra battery is expected to operate at 90% of its original capacity after 10 years of driving.
