Christine Lambrecht said that Germany plans to send seven Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled cartridges to Ukraine to strengthen the resistance against the Russians. In addition to arms shipments, Berlin will also help train Ukrainian forces in the use of weapons.
The move now comes on the heels of a major shift in Germany’s policy on heavy arms exports. Recently, for example, there were reports of sending self-propelled aircraft of the Cheetah type.
Panzerhaubitze 2000 is one of the most modern artillery devices in the world, with a range of 40-67 kilometers, depending on the type of projectile, with high accuracy. Operators are also protected by important shields within this category.
In addition to Germany, Italy and the Netherlands have also indicated that PzH 2000s are being sent to Ukraine, and rumors have recently been read that the Dutch shipment has already entered the conflict zone.
As is known, Hungary is currently acquiring its own PzH 2000s, and the first pieces are expected to be delivered to the Hungarian Armed Forces this year.
