As we talk about it I mentioned yesterdayIn recognition of their performance, they welcomed athletes from the MVM Szeged Aquatics Association who attended the Olympic and Paralympic Games. A total of seven athletes from Szeged took part in these two world events, a historic success. Among them, the greatest result was achieved by Bence Nadas, who returned home from Paris with a silver medal. The Olympian told our newspaper.

The seven athletes representing Szeged:

Olympic participant:

  • Bence Nadas (Men's 500m Double Kayak, Silver)
  • Agnes Kiss (Women's Single Dinghy 200m, 11th; Women's Double Dinghy 500m, 4th)
  • Nagi Bianca (Women's 500m Double Canoe, 4th place)
  • Istvan Koli (Men's Kayak 4x500m, 7th)

Paralympic participant:

  • Katalin Varga (KL2 200m, 4th place)
  • Buldisar Dalma (KL2 200m, 11th place)
  • Robert Soba (KL1 200m, 4th place; VL2 200m, 5th place)

The kayaking duo of Bence Nadas and Sandor Totka won the silver medal in the 500m in a highly competitive event. The Hungarian team, who recently won the European Championships, got off to a good start in the final, finishing third behind the Germans and Australians at half-distance, but set a tremendous pace in the second half of the distance and eventually finished second. place.

The men's fourth kayak team finished seventh, which was a huge disappointment for everyone.

One eye cries the other name

At the reception a short film was shown summarizing the finals and the results of the Szeged people. They showed how emotional the VE athletes were when Bence Nádas and Sándor Tótka won the silver medal at MVM Szeged. We asked what emotions were released in him afterwards.

Well, it was still cold… It was nice to live these moments this way.

In response to another question, Pence Nadas said he must have watched the Silver Race at least eight times. He then summed up how he felt after the five games.

There were ups and downs for me at the Olympics, one eye crying and the other happy. It didn't work out with the four, so I'm sad that a two-year project that was successful for some reason couldn't be successful this year. The pair was able to develop very well. We've shown many times that we can get up from a low point. At the Olympics, we were able to get up in 24 hours, which is not easy. That's why I'm very proud of ourselves, Sanira and Victor. It was a psychological battle for us, a mental battle, and we reached the limit in the doubles.

According to him, “to this day it still hurts to look back to see why it happened” in the four-man kayak race.

And most notably

That silver medal is white gold for us and we are very happy with that. We will also try to improve our back four and see how we can deliver consistent performances.

This was really good for Ben Nadas.

He would not have accepted the medal in advance.

I wanted to fight for it. So it was a good feeling after the race to hear those messages from my big heroes, the German legend, Ronald Rauch, or Cambelas, who is the Australian rowing legend, “I really congratulate you Ben, you really deserved it.” “The last three years it has been very good for you.” I have had a really consistent performance in this, especially in the K2 500. This fits really well. So when they don’t say good luck, I had a good day, it was not an omen, you mean this result, but when they say look out, you worked hard for it, it was not luck from the day that decided. This fits really well.

It's been a tough year.

You can even take this with you from Paris to Los Angeles.

If I look at the silver medal in difficult days, I'm sure I can benefit from it, because this year has been a very difficult year, and it's been really up and down in the spring as well. We lost in the senior national team, and then we didn't perform well in the World Cup as well. So, anyway, it's good to look at this medal because it reminds you never to give up. If you believe in something, stick to it, even if others say it's stupid. If you believe in it with a pure heart, you will get the results if you do your work.

He added:

So I think I can build a lot of the mental side with this.
