Baki’s Farewell: Today is the last day you can launch Overwatch 1

Baki's Farewell: Today is the last day you can launch Overwatch 1

After six very exciting years, the first part of Overwatch will finally bid farewell to players today.

It’s always hard to say goodbye, and while October 4th marks the beginning of something new, Overwatch 1’s final burial will affect even the most die-hard fans. Of course, the years spent having fun, experiences and memories will not be lost, but it is still difficult to say goodbye, because this time there is no going back.

The first part of Overwatch will be available and playable for the last time today, namely on October 3, 2022 at 5:00 PM, the famous game will be closing its doors permanently.

Until then, there will only be a chance to quickly jump to your favorite tracks, in your favorite game modes, with your favorite team, from October 4th you will be entering a whole new era in the world of hero shooters. At the same time, we can not be completely disappointed either, because despite the numbering, the continuation of Overwatch will not lead to such drastic changes, in fact, it inherits a lot of things from its predecessor (in the opinion of many, too many).

Overwatch’s career originally started in 2016, and although it followed a successful trajectory and became a premium esports title, compared to many other online multiplayer games, it has formed around a much smaller player base. The biggest reason for this was that studios and publishers started switching to the free model when Blizzard demanded money for its game, which was filled with loot boxes and only provided a multiplayer experience.

The second part joins this trend after many years of delay, which everyone can access completely freely and for free on all platforms. We can be happy, because in OW2 we will not encounter loot chests at any level, but instead there will be ridiculously expensive skins and also a common battle pass system. In addition, the gameplay is also changed, new modes and heroes are coming to the game, and the battles are fine-tuned.

It is not yet known whether all this will be enough for Overwatch 2 to far exceed the success of its predecessor (Fortnite also took years to explode), however, it is quite certain that with Overwatch 1, which is loved by many, today is the last day you can play.
