The 2024 South American Championship concluded from Saturday to Sunday (2024 South American Women's Basketball ChampionshipIt is also the South American qualifying tournament for next year's Americas Championship in Chile.
The top three teams from the tournament qualified for the continental championship, in addition to Chile, which will participate as a director of the American championship next year.
Argentina won the 2024 South American Championship after beating Brazil 84-76 in the final. After 76-76, the last two minutes decided the battle of prestige between the teams that also played in the Rwanda World Cup qualifiers.
Colombia beat Venezuela 68-62 in the bronze medal game, which also decided the fate of third place.
The tournament's MVP was Florencia Chagas, who helped Argentina win the gold medal with averages of 16.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Alongside her, Melissa Greiter (Argentina), Emanuele de Oliveira (Brazil), Briana Herlihy (Venezuela) and Juliani Paz (Colombia) rounded out the top five.
