He believes that success has nothing to do with screen size.
There was a huge buzz around Oppenheimer's Barbie, which was released on the same day last summer, and succeeded in attracting even non-moviegoers to the theaters. An interesting question is what would have been the fate of the two films had they premiered on a streaming platform – the Netflix co-president has taken a fairly clear stance on the matter.
Ted Sarandos recently a The New York Times–He sat down for a chat, where the two hit films were also discussed, with the co-chair claiming they would have done the same thing on a streaming service show as they would in cinemas.
“Both films would be great for Netflix. There's no reason to believe the success of the films has anything to do with screen size. My son is an editor. He's 28 and watches Lawrence of Arabia on his phone.” [a film 3 óra 42 perc hosszú – a szerk.]”.
– Sarandos said.
The co-president also answered what he believes are the contents that won't work on Netflix:
“I don't think there's a clear answer to that, because maybe the best version of something does very well on Netflix, but it hasn't done that yet. There are some obvious things, like not breaking news and things like that, because there's a lot of “People are so consumed with that there's another option that people don't look at us for that.”
what do you think? Do you think Barbie and Oppenheimer would have cost the same on Netflix?
