Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street needs no introduction to World of Warcraft and League of Legends fans. The game designer has founded a new studio, and his first title will be a large-scale MMORPG.
Greg Street’s fantasy MMO, which will be the first game for newly founded studio Fantastic Pixel Castle, currently only operates under the working name Ghost. The team leader of WoW and LoL veterans was the lead system designer for World of Warcraft from 2008 to 2013, and later moved to Riot Games, where he laid the foundations for the League of Legends MMORPG, which is still in development there. So the pedigree is there, but what can we expect from the brand new team’s new nickname?
Ghost will be set in a fantasy world shattered after a massive catastrophe. The inhabitants (i.e. the players) will have the task of rebuilding civilization, and for this they will have to visit every corner of the shattered universe. The story will unfold continuously, over successive seasons, and the shards of the universe will materialize into real public or private “server shards.”
In a modern-style MMO, base building, raw material collection and exploration will play an important role, and thanks to the pieces, we will be able to decide whether we will play with only our friends or with the entire alien community. The character classes will feature the classic lineup of tank, healer, and DPS, but other “exotic and unusual” roles will also be on the table. Naturally, we will also have the opportunity to play PVP.
That’s all we know about Ghost at the moment, but Greg Street and his band will talk more about the upcoming game in a longer live stream on November 8.
