Take a second to learn Exactly What Shantel does and how and why Plus & Fit all started
So how and why did you become an entrepreneur?
I really feel that God took my biggest insecurity and turned it into my biggest blessing. I became passionate about fitness, during my sophomore year. I was done with being the same size and was ready for a change. I vowed to myself that I would not enter my 20’s with the same mindset or life style. I started working out every day. I realized I was always surrounded by people who were skinnier, and in shape which can be quite discouraging to someone starting their weight loss journey.
The more I kept working out more and more girls began to approach me and ask to work out with me and I realized they were all like me; Plus sized. So, from there I realized I had a passion and could really help transform these plus sized women’s lives. I wasn’t looking for a profit but just to provide a comfortable atmosphere where other plus sized women could see a plus sized woman like myself get a good workout in.
So, what exactly is Plus & Fit and what do you do?
Being plus sized a plus size woman all my life, I realized much of women’s insecurities stem from their dislike of their weight. So, with Plus & Fit I want to start you off with a workout that is compatible to you and your fitness level, providing modifications that will allow you to gradually progress with commitment. I Provide a comfortable environment mainly targeting plus sized women, giving them an atmosphere to get a full body cardio circuit based workout in as little to 30 -45 minutes. I use myself by being a relateable example to help them change their lifestyle, by showing them that through a healthy diet we aren’t restricted from good foods we’re only limited. Meaning, you can have the foods you want just chose moderate portions or add healthy options to your plate in order to create a balanced meal, so you don’t have to give up the foods you want. For, example instead of getting full by eating two plates of spaghetti I’ll eat one plate of spaghetti with a side of vegetables and drink a bottle of water, because then now I have made my mind feel like I’m full without over eating and I got to eat what I wanted and still be healthy.
