College can be stressful and full of unexpected twist and turns; making new friends, getting along with your roommates, fighting with financial aid just to name a few. However, your health should never take a backseat to the adjustments of college, which can, later on, cause adjustments to your pant size.
Here are 5 easy ways to avoid the dreaded freshman 15.
1.Don’t Drive, Walk
While on campus make an effort to leave your car parked at your dorm room or in on spot all day and walk to all of your classes. Your body needs the exercise and this is also a great way to get fresh air. If you don’t have a car even better! Grab some friends and walk to class as a group, beside with all of the laughing, talking, and last minute quick study sessions you’ll get across campus in no time.
2. Eat Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for a very good reason. The main reason is so that your metabolism can get a kick start and provide energy for the activities throughout the day. This will also help you not to over indulge during lunch and dinner.
3. Choose Healthy Snacks
Eating small snacks throughout the day will keep you satisfied longer. Choose snacks that pack a lot of fiber and protein and low on sugar. This will help keep you energized.
4. Drink Plenty of Water
Drinking water instead of soda and coffee with help keep you hydrated and keep your skin clear.
Make exercising a part of your daily routine and take advantage of the school’s gym. If your school doesn’t have a gym you can always jog or walk for a few miles around the campus, every little bit helps.
